Mould wire mesh is woven from annealed stainless steel wire. The driving force when molding pulp fiber is the metallic molds used by the manufacturer. To ensure the vacuum, pressure, and heat are evenly distributed when pressing the pulp fibers, the molds are layered in woven wire mesh.
In order to successfully mold your mesh to fit your master forming molds, the mesh must be pressed using special tooling until the desired form is achieved.
When it comes to longevity, wire mesh molds typically have a lifespan of 6 to 8 weeks. This is all dependent on the way you handle the mesh, specifically how you clean it.

1. Material characteristics
Corrosion resistance: The mainstream uses 304 and 316 stainless steel (316L is suitable for strong acid and alkali environments). After surface passivation treatment, it can resist the erosion of industrial solvents and food-grade acids and alkalis, and its service life is 5-10 times that of ordinary carbon steel mesh.
High temperature resistance: It can maintain structural stability in the range of -270ºC to 600ºC (316 stainless steel has better high temperature resistance), suitable for high-temperature molding processes such as injection molding and die casting.
2. Structure and precision
Mesh specifications: Customized according to the scene, ranging from 0.1mm (precision filtration) to 50mm (large mold support), common mesh shapes are square, round, hexagonal, and some scenes require special-shaped holes (such as product logo patterns).
Flatness and strength: Through cold drawing, stamping or laser cutting, the mesh surface flatness error is ≤0.5mm/m, the tensile strength is ≥500MPa, and it can withstand the high pressure (10-50MPa) during mold molding without deformation.
3. Surface treatment
Smoothness: Food and pharmaceutical scenes require mirror polishing (Ra≤0.8μm) to avoid material residue; industrial scenes can use sandblasting to enhance adhesion with catalysts or resins.
Anti-rust coating: Some scenes will additionally spray to improve non-stick properties (such as chocolate molding mold nets to prevent material adhesion).
1. Plastic/Rubber Mold Support Net
Used for cavity support or flow channel filtration of injection molds and compression molds to prevent impurities in the molten material from clogging the mold and enhance the local structural strength of the mold. For example, in the injection mold of a car bumper, the stainless steel mold net is used as a lining support to avoid deformation during the molding of thin-walled plastic parts.
2. Die-casting mold filtration
During the die-casting process of aluminum alloys and zinc alloys, it is placed at the gate to filter oxides and impurities in the molten metal to reduce defects such as pores and slag inclusions in the castings. It is common in die-casting molds for aerospace parts.
3. Food molding mold net
Used for the pressing and molding molds of biscuits, chocolates, and candies, the mesh shape determines the food surface pattern (such as grids and stripes), and the material must meet FDA food contact standards (such as 304 stainless steel). For example, in the automated production line of a European biscuit factory, the mold net is in direct contact with the dough and needs to be resistant to high temperatures (150-200ºC) and easy to clean.
4. Medical particle forming and filtration
In the tablet pressing mold or capsule filling process, it is used as a screening net to filter drug powder impurities to ensure particle uniformity. The material must pass GMP certification, and the surface must be smooth and free of residue.
5. Sewage treatment filtration mold
In the precision filtration module of sewage treatment equipment, it is used as a filter membrane support frame with a mesh precision of 50-200 meshes to support ultrafiltration membranes or reverse osmosis membranes, to prevent the membrane components from being deformed under pressure.
